Beskrivelse
America is a teenage country. Hopefully, we'll grow up.
Prissy Rooney, a senior member of the South Poppy Hills High School Dance Team, is a typical teenager. She lives in a mid-sized city in flyover country in the middle of a divided America obsessed with guns, God, superheroes and fame. Her parents are vacant. Her classmates are terrible. Her only refuge is the Dance Team...and hunting the giant, irradiated, murderous rabbits infesting Poppy Hills.
Youthquake is a pulpy, existential epic that stretches the threadbare lines between order and chaos. Nobody in Poppy Hills is exempt from the leporine apocalypse. Not Prissy; not a critical-darling novelist and his acolytes; a pair of independent filmmaking brothers; a pompous gynecologist; a mute comic book writer; a drug delivery boy; the police chief and his wayward daughter; a doomsday prophet; a marketing executive in crisis; a man lost in a Big Box store; an ageless woman and her pet fern Phyllis; a sixteen-year-old cooking prodigy; an angst-ridden bass player; or a revolutionary performance artist.
Wickedly satirical and chilling, political and emotional, comical and deadly serious, Luke Zimmerman's Youthquake cuts close to the bone as it weaves through these interconnected lives, all fighting for survival when the American Dream turns into an absurd nightmare.
