Beskrivelse
A good nun told the author who was prepared to make a presentation on Purgatory for converts, "We do not talk about that!" He gave in and remains sorry about it ever since. The existence of Purgatory is a dogma of the Catholic Church but we never hear about it in church.
The book talks about purgatory in plain language and why so few people go straight to heaven and so many of us will be blessed to enter purgatory where "every trace of attachment to evil must be eliminated, every imperfection of the soul corrected" (Pope John Paul II). Nothing unclean can enter Heaven.
The holy souls suffer on-going "interior purging" while realizing all the pain and suffering is worth it because in time they will be ready to be with God in heaven for all eternity.
The book presents many fascinating stories of poor souls being allowed by God to visit the living asking their help in easing their pain and suffering and their time in purgatory. As St. Paul of the Cross offered, "If, during life, we have been kind to the suffering souls in purgatory, God will see that help be not denied us after death." We can help them and they can help us especially once they are in heaven.
The author wrote the book principally for his family to make sure they know the basics about purgatory for living their lives and what comes afterwards.
