Why relaxation?
Regular relaxation can have positive impact on children's concentration, behaviour and general health and well-being (Margolis, 1990). Good Childhood Report from 2019 states that almost a quarter of a million UK children are 'unhappy'. The report says the reasons why many children aren't happy relate to things like appearance, friendships and school. There is an enormous pressure at school and at home, which leads to stress, anxiety and mental health problems. These stress hormones suppress the immune response, however, relaxation allows the immune system to recover and so function better. Children who have practiced regular relaxation have been found to be happier, more positive and better listeners (Amon and Campbell, 2008).
