Have you ever had a person who would give you what they want, even when they clearly know that you want something else? They ignore your wishes and constantly persist in giving you what they think would make you happy, no matter the price. But what really makes you happy doesn't cost much, if anything. However, the gift giver still insists on giving you something that you don't want, something that doesn't make you happy. And you just respectfully say, 'Thanks, you shouldn't have.' Well,
'Yarn' is about two kittens who ONLY loved YARN. They didn't need expensive gifts to please them. The kittens, Bonita and Mister C., were really easy to keep happy. You didn't have to go out of your way to please them. Yarn was all they wanted. Just a simple piece of string would get them super excited. And we'll soon come to learn that you can't buy their love or impress them with shiny gifts. They would Yawn if it wasn't YARN.
The first Book entry of the series titled
"A Tail of 2 Kittens."
In poetry form,
is how their tales were written.
This series is filled with homophones,
to help children learn the difference
of words that are pronounced and maybe spelled the same,
but the meaning is different.
For instance, this book is about 2 Kittens,
who ONLY loved playing with Yarn.
If you bought them anything else,
it would just make them Yawn.
No matter how many fancy cat toys
the pet store had available to sell,
you'll be wasting your money if you bought any of them,
and you'll end up putting them up for sale.
You'll be blowing your dollars
like wind blowing on a sail.
Money going down the drain
like water from a well.
Well, now you know having no Yarn
would make the Kittens wail.
But giving them Yarn to play with
will make their smiles big as a whale.
Bonita and Mr. C. are the kittens
that we will get to know well.
They look almost alike,
and they share many tales.
Their stories were written
for the whole world to tell.
So let's see what's hidden
behind these kittens' tails.
This series also has humor
and plots that are compelling,
like overcoming life's difficult challenges,
combined with some great feel-good storytelling.
So read it and weep,
or sit back and listen,
but it is always a happy ending
with "A Tail of 2 Kittens."
