Beskrivelse
This is the story of the Florida Writers Association's first ten years as told by its founders and members. Starting with a concept of "Writers Helping Writers" shared by a few friends around a kitchen table back in 2001, FWA has grown into a professional organization of more than 1200 members coming from every corner of our home state of Florida, plus twenty other states and the Virgin Islands. The Florida Writers Association provides the state's largest three-day annual conference for published and aspiring writers hosts special one-day writers' sessions across the state, offers over forty local writers and critique programs, issues a quarterly magazine titled The Florida Writer, provides a comprehensive website and online store for products and books written by FWA authors, and maintains a writers' blog. Additionally, members may submit their work to the prestigious Royal Palm Literary Awards Competition each year as well as a contest for our annual themed Collection of short stories. FWA plays a significant role in developing Florida writers while providing excellent opportunities for publication and strengthening literacy. The story of the Florida Writers Association is still unfolding, but our history to date illustrates what can be done by creative, energetic people with a vision. Visit us at www.FloridaWriters.net.
