Beskrivelse
Strolling through a park, the young girl sees something unexpected, a moose in a tree. She is so surprised she thinks he is funny. Even though she is laughing at what she sees the moose calls her a "wonderous being". The Moose makes an invitation for her to fly into the sky with him and discover other wonderous beings. She learns there are many different beings and they are as wonderful as she is.
'Wonderous' in the title (old spelling of 'Wondrous' ) is used for the more melodic syllable rhyming rhythm.
'Wonderous Beings' was created after a painful family experience, in a flash of a moment. Crossing the floating bridge, onto the Olympic Penninsula for a family outing, MaryElaine didn't want to forget the words, feeling them special, and quickly wrote them out on a receipt found in her purse.
Hand-drawn illustrations make up 28 digitally bright color pages and fun images. Some images are recognizable, some are pure imagination. The digital software was utilized to add layers, texture, and dimension.
Develop self-confidence skills with activity pages for affirmations; use of visual reminders by taping or gluing pictures of themselves, family, friends, and other things they see in the world.
A read-aloud poem offers the opportunity to talk about differences between people, learning to choose to understand differences and know the child is just as wonderful.
