World War II-era England. A group of people working for England's regulatory department on pins spend their days amidst a Byzantine bureaucracy in a remote Great House, and their nights in the guesthouse with what they call 'The Plot'-a group effort at writing a mystery novel. When one of their number ends up dead, it's a classic British whodunit from the Golden Age.
