About the author: Dr. Thomas Schwengler is a principal architect at CenturyLink; he held positions as director of RF engineering at Qwest Wireless, senior staff engineer at US WEST Advanced Technologies, and research engineer at France Telecom R&D. He has a master and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an engineering degree from Supélec, France.
