Through the medium of old photographs this book provides a fascinating look at the recent history of Winson Green and Brookfields. This area remained relatively rural until the mid-nineteenth century when Birmingham Town Council found sites here for the building of a new Borough prison and workhouse. This photographic record pays tribute to the people who grew up and lived in this close community.
