Captain Jeremy McDonald was shocked to discover the young boy hiding out in a cabin in the forest was really a girl. He couldn't leave her to fend for herself since her brothers had been forced to join the Civil War fighting for the South. So he decided to take her to his father's plantation in Raleigh. On the trek from Tarboro to Raleigh he discovered she was an expert with a bow and arrow and a gun. He also knew she had secrets. Willow Riley found herself attracted to the Confederate Captain. She would do anything to make Jeremy her own. So she learned to read and behave like a lady while at McDonald Plantation.
