Wildflowers and Wooden Spoons is the second of three in Lucia's Wildflowers series and is a cookbook with stories from her childhood and the ten years she owned and operated a scratch kitchen cafe in South Florida. Lucia's cafe, Mother Earth Sanctuary Cafe, located in Lake Worth, Florida between 2007 and 2017, featured over 20 original veggie burgers, soups influenced by cultures around the world, a signature Mac and Cheese and other comfort foods as well as Lucia's signature sauces. Readers will find recipes from Lucia's Italian heritage as well as creative ways to serve pancakes, make edible candles and Ethiopian Honey Wine.
"My cafe served a lot of vegan dishes but I did not limit myself to vegan or vegetarian food because I wanted to feed everyone. If you were a vegan, vegetarian or meat eater, I had something special for you," Lucia says, "And because I grew up in a working class family, I learned early how to make healthy, satisfying meals on a budget."
The recipes in Wildflowers and Wooden Spoons highlight healthy, whole food, budget friendly dishes with stories that remind us how central and powerful "cooking with love" really is and that we all have our own kitchen magic right at our fingertips.
