Meanwhile, a soul-searching pair of friends, Sarah and Valerie, are taking a therapeutic road trip where they meet up with a charming young man named Christopher. After taking a suggested detour, they are terrorized by a menacing truck that herds them toward the ghost town of Darwin, run by none other than Sheriff Judd Johnson, who offers to help the girls with their situation.

They continue down the road on the promise of the sheriff stopping the truck in its tracks, but their hearts sink when they are again, face to face with the mechanical monster. The cat-and-mouse game continues with the girls as Judd and his wife wrestle their own demons over the burden of the bargain. With everyone's lives on the line, who will prevail?
