Have you ever been in a situation where you were crippled by fear? Perhaps you were walking across a busy street and did not see the vehicle barreling towards you. Yet, when you saw it instead of running, jumping, or moving, you froze like a deer in headlights, eyes open, mouth open, maybe a yell or scream, but no movement. The fear of the situation paralyzed you. Who knew fear had such an immobilizing physical effect? And if it has this kind of physical effect what are the mental, emotional and spiritual effects? Remember, your physical reactions reflect what is happening mentally and spiritually. Let's be clear, Fear is an agent of Satan designed to immobilize, and stagnate purpose. Fear removes peace and seeks to disqualify individuals from purpose through self-deprecation, outside threats, and negative experiences. Moses battled with self-deprecation, doubting his ability to carry out the will of God. Outside threats and negative experiences caused Elijah to walk away from purpose before time. It was Jezebel's threat and the evil carried out by her hands which Elijah witnessed that caused him to run away from purpose. During purpose (God- given destiny and assignments), the enemy seeks to feed on fears, anxieties, intimidations and doubts to cause individuals to disqualify their own authority and abandon their own destinies. In other words, the enemy will search out personal fears and anxieties and play on those fears to set individuals back from the place of peace and fulfillment.
