Beskrivelse
There are numerous self-help books on the market for retired persons and "60-somethings" facing atrophy of limb and mind. This is not one of those books. In fact, it is a small collection of poems written by a person who is not dreading her next few decades. The author speaks to the sophisticated, experienced, well read woman, who has something to say. In poems that deal with great sex, love lost and found, and the joy of chocolate, the reader pursues a straight line to joy. There is an element of happiness that may not include dwelling on the past, having life's disasters kill your spirit, or wishing you were still married to what's his name. This is fun and uplifting, yet very wise. Plane travel, irritating health care receptionists and loving sex are all evaluated with humor and real insights. The writer, Isabelle Tolling, has a lot more than dread facing her in her 70s. She aims for readers who can't wait for the next adventure. Been to Thailand; how about Nepal?
