¿ WHO ATE MY SANDWICH ¿
Uncle Jake thought that quiet days were the best,
He'd relax at home with a book and time to rest.
Though parties were no pleasure for Uncle Jake,
On his birthday, the whole family came with a cake.
This year on his birthday there was a football game,
Watching a re-run just wouldn't be quite the same.

Have you ever made a mistake? If you did, what did you do to make it better?
The author, Sigal Adler, has written a fun book about Uncle Jake. Uncle Jake was a busy man, and on his day of rest that is exactly what he liked to do, rest. Uncle Jake liked to rest and watch football on television. One day of rest was his birthday, and his family arrived to celebrate. Uncle Jake would much prefer to watch football, but he welcomed his family. They had a delicious cake, and a special gift for Uncle Jake, they gave him a puppy! What do you think Uncle Jake thought anout a puppy? When you read this book, you will, understand and appreciate the rest of the story.
Parents/teachers will enjoy reading this story to their children. The children will love the puppy and the storyline. They can talk about the lessons learned, making judgements before you know the story. This book is written in rhyme, one of my favorite ways to read to children. The illustrations by Abira Das are bright, colorful and beautiful. They depict the storyline and Uncle Jake and the puppy. I like books with lessons learned.

Uncle jake is grouchy, and he has a problem: despite the fact he enjoys his solitude, the whole family comes to visit him on his birthday.
This year on his birthday there was a football game
Watching a rerun just wouldn't be the same.
As always I find great pleasure in the colorful illustrations that bring out the humor in the light verse of this children's book. You can see his cheeks being pinched, with great glee, by a family member. This is a moment every child can relate to!
He already had a headache; he hadn't rested a bit,
When his aunt pinched his cheek he nearly had a fit!
To add to his anger, his sandwich had been eaten, and he must find the culprit, his puppy:
Jake shook his fist and yelled: Don't ever do that again!
You're a bother! Now let me watch the game in my den."
Will he ever grow comfortable with enjoying the birthday gifts and good wishes?
Find out, get this book! Five stars.
