Dr. Kenneth Maxwell believed he had landed the job of a lifetime when he accepted a position on the staff of the Vengtman Home for the Emotionally Disturbed. He saw a chance to hone his psychotherapeutic skills under the tutelage of the country's foremost expert in psychology and to make a name for himself. What he found instead was a cesspool of mystery, intrigue, and inexplicable events. He also found Melissa Waterman, a teenaged girl with compelling amethyst eyes, who seemed to be at the center of the mystery, intrigue, and inexplicable events.
