Beskrivelse
At the beginning of the 16th century one of the most interesting events in history was the naming as "America" of the newly discovered continent on the other side of the Atlantic by Christopher Columbus on October 12, 1492. This name appeared on some maps without the knowledge of most scientists. In the first stage nobody gave importance to this current issue. In 80% of the maps made by European cartographers, this territory began to be presented as "America". This issue became a serious problem after "America" appeared frequently on maps. But it is true that, Spain, Portugal and Italy denied to call this continent as "America" and Europeans temporarily called this unknown territory as the coasts of the New World.
