When We Grow Wings

This book is about a baby girl whose mother died, her father rejected her, as did her mother's family. How after more than 18 bad foster homes she was held a virtual prisoner by a drunken relative for two and a half years until his beatings almost killed her and she was rescued. At age twelve she began supporting herself, turned her life around and was doing well. Unfortunately, she married a man who continued the abuse. Her life was hell on earth until after 16 years she was brave enough to file for divorce. While raising her five children alone she struggled to regain her health, her self esteem, her dignity and provide a safe, loving home for her family where they could be happy and live without fear.
