Why was Daddy back? And more important, would he stay?

When Lizzy's father left to find work during the Depression, no one expected him to stay away forever. Two years later, no one expects him to return. 

But Daddy is back (with a scrawny dog named Doorknob), and he needs help. He's out of food and money, and there's an officer of the law not far behind.  

Lizzy discovers the real reason Daddy left. Troubles that began during his service in the Great War are back to haunt him. She agrees to keep his return a secret until he can make things right. 

But after years of silence, can Lizzy trust him? Can God really change a man the way Daddy claims he's been changed? 

Sometimes secrets are impossible to keep. When her family learns Daddy is back, Lizzy must make a choice, and her decision to trust and forgive the father she still loves might come with a price.
