Donna doesn't know what to draw.
When her teacher says they should paint or draw whatever they like, Donna is stuck. All around her, the other children get to work. They paint mythical creatures and clever shapes, bright pictures with inspiring ideas, while Donna stares at her blank piece of paper.
She asks them about their pictures and their cultures. What makes them so inspired? And how are they so good at drawing?
She can't think of anything.
That is, until she starts to think about what it means to live in America...
What Can Donna Draw? highlights the diversity of the United States. It looks at five separate cultures through their artwork and examines how America is a culturally-diverse country-plus one with plenty of culture all of its own.
A story for children aged 5-10, What Can Donna Draw? introduces children to some of the world's different art styles, both traditional and contemporary, while looking at the question of diversity, culture, and inclusion in modern America.
