In the 1980s the boom for start-up high tech companies began to explode, owing mainly to the development of the microprocessor. Though not yet with the ferocity of the Internet bubble around the turn of the millennium, the earlier period was wild enough that companies with little more than a wish and a prayer were able to attract millions in venture financing. Because there were many technologies vying for the same space the majority of these businesses failed. We’re on Our Way is the story of one such business, founded in the late 1980s, that through the machinations of its leader took off like a bottle rocket only to explode at its height. Mr. Stockdell was one of the principles of Paralex and saw it through all the various steps required to start and bring to fruition that misbegotten venture: writing a business plan, selling the idea of the product, raising $15 million in funding and in the end imploding through folly, greed, betrayal, and dishonesty.
