We Have Come to Burn

Post-revolution America looks less like letting freedom ring and more like a dog-eat-dog nightmare for seventeen-year-old Charlie Cross. She can't get the memory of her murdered parents out of her head, she has more knives than friends, and everything she owns fits in one half-empty backpack. This isn't what the "rebelutionaries" promised when they overthrew the government and toppled society as Charlie knew it. Two years after the world ends, Charlie has lost all sight of her counter-revolutionary goals. Scared, hungry, and haunted, she's less superhero slash vigilante and more lonely, desperate teenager. She knows there must be more to life than just breaking into abandoned houses and running from rebels, but it isn't until she runs into Beckett in BFE, Nebraska that she dares to dream life can be something more than just full-time suckage. Their friendship forging isn't easy, especially when dangerous idealism can wear any face it chooses. When the many faces and factions of idealism turn deadly, Charlie and Beckett have to fight for their lives and the promised future of the revolution while coming to terms with the complicated idea of home.
