Warm Goodbye

The law enforcement officials did not discover that all of their charges had flown the coop until after seven o'clock that first evening they were at sea. That was when the deputies shift was over and two other deputies came to relieve them. They had taken over the boat house and were using it as their base of operation. Once it was determined that the only ones in the house was the deputies, they called the FBI's local office, and the Feds were there within the hour demanding to know what happened.
