Urgency of material vis-a-vis world events (the issue will include several articles about recent or ongoing conflicts - Iraq, Iran and the war on terror). The authors will include activists (Salma Yacoob, Elaine Hefferman, Lindsey German), well-known authors (Jean Said Makdisi, Lynne Segal, Spike Peterson etc.) and rising young stars (Nadje al-Ali, Nicola Pratt, Roxanne Varzi, Nayanika Mukherjee). The issue will have a coherence and relevance that will make it useful as an edited volume for teaching purposes.
