A mother's nightmare! On February 6, 2010, Anthony Purcell went for a dive at Miami Beach and suffered a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Shocked by medical insurance's failure to help spinal cord injury victims' recovery costs, Micki began the non-profit Walking With Anthony to assist those without the support systems that Micki and her family were able to provide for Anthony.



Through this difficult struggle fighting for not only her son's body, but also his spirit, Micki has become the lifeblood and inspiration of a movement that brings awareness and funding to the plight suffered by hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. alone.
