'Virginia's Black Confederates: Essays and Rosters' Civil War Sesquicentennial Edition (2nd Edition) contains the names of over 1,600 African-Americans, free and slave, who worked for the Confederate war effort. The work includes essays on the black Confederate experience with a focus on Virginia. It also includes samples of primary source documents to meet Virginia Standards of Learning requirements. It is designed, in part, to aid history teachers, journalists, African-American genealogists and general readers of history.
