In 108 photographs taken over a fifteen-year period, he takes readers on a journey as varied, striking, and beautiful as the state itself. Gurche captures the state in all seasons, from the snow-covered boulders of the Hughes River in Shenandoah National Park to the colorful spring flowers at Oatlands mansion in Leesburg, from the fog-shrouded Manassas National Battlefield Park to the orange-, yellow-, and red-flamed trees along the New River.
