Valkyrie

It is the year 5997. Jake McGillicuddy is a cynical, one-eyed former interceptor pilot for the interstellar empire known as the DPR. He leads a solitary life, and he prefers it that way. Jake makes a living transporting goods across the endless night of space, jumping from one star system to the next. His copilot, a 2000-year-old Christian warbot named Spank, is the closest thing he has to a friend. Jake and Spank's life together is a moneymaking routine: pick up goods in one system, haul the goods to another system, and reap the profit from buying low and selling high. In less than 96 hours, that will all change. Jake will have a bounty on his head, and will receive a business offer he can't refuse-and not just because of the money. Like a ship being sucked into a black hole, Jake and Spank will soon be pulled into an interstellar conspiracy far beyond their control, or even their comprehension. If they succeed, Jake and Spank will be rich beyond their wildest dreams. The only question is: will they survive?
