Nearly a year ago, Caroline Gillespie took on gangsters, a dirty cop, and her own bloodthirsty father, and now all she has to show for it is a recurring nightmare and a mediocre newspaper job. Still, it's an improvement. And maybe more-maybe it's the beginning of an ordinary life as an ordinary member of society. But then her best friend, crime reporter Troy Stanforth, is found brutally murdered, his body abandoned on the side of the road like so much garbage. Caroline believes he was killed to suppress some truth he'd discovered. The police, on the other hand, don't seem to believe anything.
