Beskrivelse
According to the Coyuntura Laboral en América Latina y el Caribe (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean - ECLAC), the coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19) dealt an unprecedented blow to the economies and labor markets of Latin America and the Caribbean. To reduce the spread of the disease, the countries of the region took the measure of paralyzing economic activities and restricting people's mobility. According to ECLAC, the region has experienced the worst output contraction in history, which has had and will have profound labor and social consequences. Many of the people who lost their jobs did not find opportunities for early reinsertion or, due to mobility restrictions, withdrew from the labor force. The book provides an analysis of the public policies designed by the Chilean government to mitigate unemployment during the pandemic (Covid-19).
