Beskrivelse
The night of August 3 rd, 1944, when the German mines destroyed the historic center of Florence, is commemorated with the publication of the Diario dei cinquemila (Diary of the five thousands) by the architect Nello Baroni, a refugee in the Pitti Palace with a multitude of displaced persons. The damage was not limited to bridges or towers, and the text explores the history of buildings maybe less known but of considerable interest, as the Acciaioli Palace. The study on the reconstruction of the areas around Ponte Vecchio starts from the debate on the criteria to follow; it explores the complex history of decision-making and it offers various examples of buildings: an operational phase paradoxically neglected until now.
