Nine-year-old Vanna and her little sister Isabella love their grandpa so very much! The two girls are staying with their Aunt Debbie while their parents are away dealing with adult things. They learn that their grandpa has gone to Heaven. Vanna and Isabella agree that they must find a way to get to Heaven to convince God that they need their grandpa back. They decide that the best way to get to Heaven is to take a plane. After all, a plane can go anywhere! So the girls begin their journey, sneaking out of Aunt Debbie's house and hopping on the city bus to ride to the airport.
