Lena has managed to carve out an almost idyllic life for herself in the small seaside town of Monterey until the sudden and illogically explained death of her best friend pulls her out of the life she has painstakingly built and thrusts her into a new world of unexpected characters and situations. Lena's nature and beliefs demand that she make the choice to follow her drive for justice for her dead friend, regardless of the danger and loss to herself, thus launching her on a quest and an odyssey that will challenge her courage and bring her pain, loss and connection over the next few years as she crosses the path of many unique, endearing and some despicable characters.
