Though the Lees' experiences seem extraordinary today, they were very typical of our ancestors of the era. In Try and Try Again you're invited to join the Lee family in the typical struggles of the day; the "Patriot War" of 1812, three Indian Wars, marauding gangs, Civil War, Reconstruction and financial panics to name just a few of the bigger events as Florida convulsed from primitive backwater into the modern wonder it is. These "big picture" events are salted with tales of individual life, of faith, fear, fortune, loss and love woven into the fabric of their lives as they struggled through life's dangers, toils and snares. The main characters are real. Their life-events were painstakingly re-created to paint an accurate portrait of life in the era between 1800-1874. The story will bring alive Florida's past for young and old alike with a blend of solid history and colorful fictional anecdotes presented in a fun and memorable way."
