Complicating matters even more, is that Ethan is a vampire. Cassie is inexplicably connected to Ethan. To make it worse, she can't stop herself from seeing his past life in her dreams. Erik Locke, a Blood Hunter vampire, will stop at nothing to get his hands on the ancient amulet. He needs it so he can finally destroy the Sympathizer vampires. Also, inexplicably drawn to Cassie, he wants her as his bride, but with Ethan protecting her, there is only one way he can have her. Ethan McCall must die.

As Cassie learns more about the vampire world, she fears the powers that the ancient amulet holds. If Erik Locke is not stopped, she and others will find fear in the sunset if they don't trust a vampire first.
