The Book of First Samuel chapters 1 - 15 provides information about Eli and Samuel who were the last two judges appointed by the Lord God, and they judged the descendants of Israel for 40 years each. It includes details about the time when the descendants of Israel asked for a king to rule over them. After Samuel prayed to the Lord God about this request, he anointed Saul to be their king. Saul reigned as king for 40 years.This book includes verses translated from the Greek old covenant writing, sometimes referred to as the Septuagint. Additionally, some comparisons to the Hebrew text are provided.
