Triple Divide

Sharlie has had a year full of changes: her dad has died, her mother has become distant, her younger sister Sissy more babyish as the months go by. Then her best friend is sent away. Sharlie is stuck - aside from homework, her world is empty. And so is her stomach: her mom is not doing much cooking and when she does, it's always the same old junk. So Sharlie takes on the cooking, until one day her mother realizes what she is doing and comes up with a plan to get the family back on track. Sharlie begins to hope they'll get their family back, though the adventure that results is far from the one she's hoped for. Or is it? Set in Boston and Glacier National Park, these characters reflect an American family in the 1980s that is adapting to single-parent realities.
