Trico Leader of the Pack

"Trico" a high spirited, freedom loving Shepherd begins life as a beloved pet, but due to a child's mishap ends up in an animal shelter where every one of his shrewd and imaginative ideas to break free meets with failure. And then one afternoon, as he's busy devising yet another mode of flight, a wealthy spinster, Bonnie, enters the shelter and falls in love with him, the feeling isn't mutual. She calls him "Trico" (named for her Argentina birth place). He tries in vain to dissuade Bonnie but her instant love is blind and he's doomed to live in the lap of luxury. As Trico grows, he yearns for adventure, he seeks freedom at any cost. One day he pays the price. Cold, hiding in alleys, scouting for food and shelter, he encounters a group of stray dogs and follows them to their home base, a crime infested slum occupied by hordes of homeless dogs. Trico joins their gang but soon decides to organize a group of his own. Thus begins an extraordinary chain of events that guides Trico and his band of renegades into a unique life that proves beyond a doubt that dogs are man's best friend.
