Who goes backpacking in their forties?
Tim and Helen did. And Helen is a type 1 diabetic.Stepping out of their comfort zone, they decided to embark on a midlife gap adventure, leaving behind the routine of work life and commuting.
Once the decision was made, preparations began, downsizing from their house to a backpack. With a one way ticket to Nova Scotia and only a plan for the first 3 weeks, the rest of the journey was very much undecided. Yet through a combination of pet sitting and volunteering, Tim and Helen travelled so much further and longer than they ever expected.
Combining their two favourite things, Pets and Hiking, after two and a half years they racked up 12 countries and over 70,000 kilometres.
The book also links to their travel Instagram account to give a pictorial perspective of their epic journey and the stunning natural beauty of the Americas including:
