Set in contemporary Greece, a man and a woman who met briefly decades earlier are mysteriously reunited when a massive storm virtually throws them together. After college, she went on her first trip to Greece where she met Dario, a young Portuguese lawyer and fell in love. There she met Demetrios and Penelope, who became her lifelong friends. A year later she and Dario married. The young couple was happy and looked forward to a bright future when suddenly this dream, like the one in her youth, turned into a terrible nightmare. Some years later she met Alfonso, a Count living in a big castle. A mature love grew between the two and she became his wife. Yet another nightmare occurred when Alfonso died of leukemia a few years later. At age 35 she was a widow for the second time. Nina decided to return to her favorite Greek island where she stayed at a beautiful hotel on a peninsula owned by her friends Demetrios and Penelope. There, her adventures and those of the other characters in the book continue.
