This study focuses on the training of French-language teachers in Algeria, with particular reference to junior cycle teachers. Teacher training was examined from the angle of continuity or rupture between in-service training and initial training, in the context of the reform of the Algerian education system.Two training institutions were chosen: the University of Blida2 and the ENS of Bouzaréah- Algiers. A comparative approach highlighted the similarities and differences in the type of training provided at these two institutions.
