When he signed on with the railroad in 1971, college boy Terry Beck wasn't looking for anything beyond a summer job. Instead, he found his place in a time honored lineage of railroaders that some think may have been the last of a disappearing breed. Once he figured out he needed to buy a bag and keep it packed, his adventures began and continued nearly 40 years. Besides his own exploits and lessons, he recounts stories that have been handed down by the people he worked with. Some of them may even be true.
