Beskrivelse
This is a Great American Novel --- it tells a story that is a shared American Experience. This novel tells the story of a small town fighting to keep its soul as a big box retailer pushes into its community. It tells the stories of two women who have been sexually harassed by the same powerful man within that corporation. It tells the story of an entrepreneur who finds a way back from burnout.
It also described the strategy that Dollar General would use to dominate the American rural Middle Class marketplace.
According to Carolyn Kellogg's 2016 Los Angeles Times article, the Great American Novel "...imagines the kaleidoscope of our nation, its social fabric and its troubled conscience, its individual voices and strivings, our loves and losses." It suggests they are "... as much about failure as success, the arc of those narratives is always anchored in hope."
This is a Great American Novel, in print for the first time.
