Applied linguistics is an interdisciplinary field which identifies, investigates, and offers solutions to language-related real-life problems generally. This compendium contains a selection of about twenty published journal articles in a decade, between 2002 - 2012, which have been titled: "Topics in Applied linguistics", based on my discipline and area of specialisation, which is Applied linguistics and communication studies. The research publications are basically on linguistics of Yoruba, English grammar and lexicon, with focus on dietics, clefting, conjunction, passives, requests, focusing. All these grammatical categories are contextualised in contrastive and error analysis, against the background of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Also, educational aspects, such as parental roles, gender, power and attitudes were explored as in linguistics studies. The book is a collection of some of the author's single and joint publications with other coleagues in the field of Applied Linguistics over time.
