Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There is a novel published on 27 December 1871 by Lewis Carroll and the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Alice again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. The phrase 'Through the Looking Glass, 'as used in literature by world renowned author Lewis Carroll, can be viewed as a metaphor for any time the world suddenly appears unfamiliar, almost as if things were turned upside down - similar to looking out from inside the mirror to find a world both recognizable and yet.
