Beskrivelse
In the spring of 1854, Anton Narvik was burdened with a family secret. Fugitives were hiding in a coulee valley on their Grant County, Wisconsin farm, only five miles from the Mississippi River. Who those people were, and what they represented would change the course of the fourteen-year-olds life. It would change the way he saw the world and its hypocrisies. He would learn the differences between justice stated and justice rendered. He would learn steadfastness and kindness... and rage - primal rage, which he would unleash first in those valley confines and then in a great nation-defining civil war. But before all that, on that first warm spring morning, he would meet a girl unlike any other.
