Beskrivelse
In all these short stories, the meticulous descriptive narration of moves highlights the dramatisation of the game on the dual match/spectator plane, which is conveyed to us with due intensity, allowing us to participate as an active audience in viewing the fascinating struggles on the board. The writing of these stories, well backed by their context and technical nods, is so inspired and incisive that reading them brings us closer to a state that closely resembles happiness. Or so it seems to me.
Antonio Gude
José Luis Torrego's recent work contains delightful stories and immortal pranks narrated with as much passion and good use of language as Antonio Gude overflows in his wonderful preface. Leontxo Garcia, in "El Pais", July/2020.
...the set of short stories by José Luis Torrego is drunk in small sips in a single sitting. The prose is elegant, typical of an author whose poetic seams are noticeable. ...At the heart of each story are also fantastic positions, incredible traps, dream studies and games that any fan will have great pleasure with. Federico Marín Bellón on "ABC", September/2020 Four short stories make up this original work that will mark a before and after in chess literature, largely thanks to its historical rigor, its sharp dialogues, its more than interesting chosen positions.
