Beskrivelse

On Chicago's lakefront, a despairing woman stumbles into Buckingham Fountain in an apparent attempt to cleanse herself of something. What has she done? On Chicago's near north side, a little girl named Julie grows up without a mother. Fortunately, a little boy along with a few adults becomes her extended family and she survives. Gerhardt Von Ritter, a Captain in German Naval Intelligence, is sent to America to recover a damning file stolen from the office of Adolf Hitler's doctor. What does this document say? Arriving in Chicago on his quest, Von Ritter meets the young, beautiful, now nineteen-year-old Julie Strassbourg. Shortly thereafter, to her great alarm, Julie learns her long-lost mother has been found in a German mental hospital where she is likely to be killed in the Nazi euthanasia program meant to rid the Third Reich of its mentally ill. Julie begs Von Ritter to help her rescue her mother. Eventually, now residing in the lair of the Nazi murderers, Julie discovers there are a few Germans who, like Von Ritter, work to counter the evil machinations of the Fuehrer's henchmen. In an environment fraught with danger, Julie and a few of these gutsy Germans attempt to circumvent and outsmart the Gestapo and the SS hoping to keep some blameless souls from falling into the clutches of their sadistic pursuers.
