Tim's world turned upside down when he discovered magic was real. Now, when he's alone, a voice whispers in his ear-a voice calling out for help. A science teacher and a practical-thinker, Tim Dovel has had to adapt to the reality of magic. In just a few short months, he's transformed from skeptic to practicing magician. He's starting to feel at home in the little town of New Albion-where magic-users are the rule, not the exception. His deepening relationship with Val, the town marshal, helps him feel connected in a way he never has before. But just as Tim is starting to settle into his new normal, a soft voice calls out to him in the woods. At first, the whisper is easy to dismiss as Tim focuses on building his new life with Val. But as the days and weeks go by, the voice becomes more and more urgent. Tim begins to fear he's losing his mind. But he'll soon discover there are mysteries even magicians don't fully understand-and there are entire worlds that move unseen amidst their own. There are hunters creeping ever closer, and Tim and Val must unite with old friends and forge new alliances to reveal the hidden threats-before their world crumbles into chaos.
