How Dark is Your Mane?
The Way of The Mane reveals the fascinating correlation between the mane of a male lion, and the fruit of a man's spirit. In recent history zoologists have discovered that the mane is indicative of a male lion's overall quality. The rule of thumb in lion culture is the darker the mane the stronger the lion. Lions that bear darker manes possess higher levels of testosterone and are stronger and better fit to lead their prides than lions with lighter manes.
In like manner men possess what scripture refers to as fruit, and it's the condition of this fruit in our lives that broadcasts to everyone our quality. As lions are known by their manes, so men are known by their fruit. Developing a full black mane is essential for every man that desires to live a spiritually fruitful life that brings glory to the name of Christ.
The Way of The Mane urges men to become fruitful in their walk with Christ by providing an in-depth look into lion culture and a close observance of key characteristics found only in dark-maned lions. Andre challenges every man to evaluate the condition of their lives and possess the courage to be the change our families, communities, and nation so desperately needs.
Quote
"We will risk a literal marring of our reputation, a divide betwixt us and our relationships with people of the world to include friends and family, and a metamorphosis of our most rooted desires. But such losses when compared to the gains inherent in His person ought not to be grieved."
Excerpt Taken From Chapter Six "Territorial Trials"
My interest in lions, as far as I can recollect, came about the day I watched Lion King for the first time as a boy. As the movie played, I grew more and more intrigued by the regal appeal of Mufasa. I gravitated towards his poise, how he walked about the grasslands confidently, and it drew something within me... Unbeknown to me, I was beholding a good example of manhood. As I sat in front of that old block television with my small frame and wide eyes, something began to grow within me. A desire broke forth and emerged from the flesh of my heart. It was the desire to be a man who possessed those same qualities I saw in that beautiful creature, and though this was the beginning of a powerful emerge, it would be met with great adversity.
Fast forward some ten years later and I find myself seated in the back of an SUV in an alley under the cover of night. I carried a piece of steel in my right hand and wore a black bandanna over my face. What followed wasn't in any fashion pleasant. I was with some other guys preparing to break into a man's house and rob him for what we thought would be several pounds of marijuana. The driver gave us a stern warning, "Look, if he tries something, you have to shoot him!" I had never been so nervous in my life, but I was willing to set my nerves aside for a chance to demonstrate my level of loyalty. In moments of reflection when I reminisce upon my path in life - where I've been, and what I've done - I sometimes cringe at what crosses my mind. I could have been someone far different than who I am today...
I believe all men desire to live an honorable life - a life that others would want to emulate - one that is marked by noble character and that is pleasing in the sight of the Lord. But I also believe that not every man knows how to live that out. The Way of the Mane is my manual to you.
